Marco Tripalo, the founder of 505 Research, has a background in corporate banking and private equity capital raising.

After graduating from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a degree in economics, he began his career at PNC Bank, one of the largest banks in the United States. There he worked on complex multimillion-dollar credit facilities for mid- and large-cap companies, most of them owned by private equity firms. His job was to examine the financial condition of each borrower and the assets behind its loan, and to report on whether the bank should continue extending credit and on what terms.

He subsequently moved into the real estate investment industry, where he raised equity for institutional private equity offerings. Over that period he worked with hundreds of accredited investors and raised millions in equity across more than two dozen assets, primarily multifamily and self-storage portfolios along with a number of specialty transactions. He also managed the advertising that supported those raises, from creative development and audience targeting through landing pages and conversion tracking to the follow-up sequence after a form was submitted.

505 Research was founded in response to a gap in the marketing industry. The incentives across that industry are poorly aligned with client outcomes, and there is very little reliable guidance available to professionals who are skilled in their own field but did not come up through sales and marketing. Those professionals still need to bring a product to market, and most of what is offered to them is of limited value.

505 Research is based in Texas.
